I had a 24V wire already running to my old thermostat so the install was very easy. FYI - most C wires (24V) that I have come across are blue in color, not orange.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7634708827578650894.post-4754543720426036722011-12-12T13:20:25.477-08:002011-12-12T13:20:25.477-08:00Hey, Sandiway Fong. Our Filtrete Wi-fi thermostat worked beautifully for two weeks before it started beeping wildly one evening and then inexplicably shut down. We have yet to find out what went wrong, and Radio Thermostat, the company that manages the product on behalf of 3M, has not returned our queries. What to do next? We could swap the wonky thermostat for a new one but the idea of unreliable software/hardware hooked up to the boiler gives us pause. It's a shame because the 3M-50 is really the only Wi-Fi option out there that does not require a pro installation or a four-wire electrical setup. Our setup happens to have three wires, one of which is the common wire; not sure what the fourth wire does but most systems call for it. So we're stuck with an old-timey non-Wi-Fi thermostat until for now. We were so close to victory! May your Filtrete enjoy a long and healthy life.MadebyApesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7634708827578650894.post-24839910883322282192011-12-06T11:32:36.238-08:002011-12-06T11:32:36.238-08:00Have you been enjoying the thermostat after the so...Have you been enjoying the thermostat after the software change? How about firmware updates - the new software doesn't allow it. I have two of these and they have different firmware versions and as a result one works great, and one is buggy. Need to figure out how to update the firmware if possible. Also, it's a fine way to greet yourself at home after a tiring day of work, instead of getting vexed at the temperature.Selene McGrawhttp://www.steamtraps.us/spence-steam-valves.htmnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7634708827578650894.post-58536575710872775352011-09-04T19:44:09.040-07:002011-09-04T19:44:09.040-07:00< shut it all off when you leave, turn it back ...< shut it all off when you leave, turn it back on when you come back.
